Studied Zoology at the University Vienna. Since 1991 numerous dragonfly and bird related projects for different clients, since February 2001 as “Technical Office for biology”. Main field of work is the cross boarder Conservation project for the Great Bustard. First sighting of the Great Bustard out of private interest already in the years 1990 and 1991 in Marchfeld. Since spring 1999 until summer 2014 he spent more than 5000 hours in the field private or occupational in the Austrian Bustard areas and is still excited about each and every Great bustard sighting.

Since 2014, Rainer Raab has been intensively concerned with the subject of bird transmissionin, both in Austria and in the neighboring countries and meanwhile all over Europe (and partly also in Asia). From July 2014 to the end of December 2019, 515 birds of prey (including 341 red kites, 50 white-tailed eagles and 53 imperial eagles), 6 seagulls and 26 great bustards in Europe were equipped with special loggers, to whose data the TB Raab has access. This was done in cooperation with numerous partners, such as Univ. Prof. Dr. Ivan Literák (Brno) and BirdLife Hungary (MME).
